Ward and Robertson elected to serve

Union Matters

Dave Ward has been re-elected to serve as the CWU’s General Secretary for a third term, while Davie Robertson has been elected the Assistant Secretary Postal.

Nominations for both positions closed at 14.00 today (Wednesday 5th March).

Both were elected unopposed.

Commenting on the result, CWU General Secretary Dave Ward said: “The members and representatives of the CWU make this union one of the best in the UK and to be elected to serve again is a massive privilege.

“These past five years have been a period of historic change both for the labour movement and our country.

“From the onset of the pandemic to the mass strikes which threw our union into the spotlight in 2022, we have faced huge challenges together – and fought back as one.

“We have also seen a Labour Party come to power on the mandate of promising a new deal for workers – an agenda that this union firmly placed on Labour’s agenda, and one we are now helping to realise in law.

“Being re-elected to serve another term is a reflection of what we have achieved, and of the huge challenges ahead of us that we must face.

“I am excited and proud to be able to continue this fight as this great union’s leader.”
