Tesco Mobile and VM02 workers to vote on pay rise starting today
Capita, VMO2 December 23 2024CWU members at Tesco Mobile and VM02 are set to vote on an inflation-busting pay offer starting today.
The workers, who work on Capita contracts at the phone giants, will see ballots land today (23rd December) on whether to accept a deal from their employer.
For Capita members on the minimum wage, an hourly increase to £12.66 an hour – a real-terms increase of 9.52% – will be in effect from 1st January 2025.
For those who are above the Capita minimum rates, it will mean a 5.5% uplift from January 2025.
It was also confirmed that the pay agreement applies until the next round of discussions, which will take place in April 2025.
The offer comes following the union’s negotiations with Capita, and after the union began plans to ballot workers for industrial action.
If the ballot is successful, Capita has confirmed that the increase will be paid in January’s salary.
CWU National Officer Tracey Fussey said: “There is no doubt that Capita has moved significantly since reneging on paying the Real Living Wage in January 2024, along with the imposition of a pay freeze for those members earning more than the RLW.
“Without the unwavering support and strength of all of you we would not have been able to deliver this pay agreement.
“I would like to thank you for your support and patience through these discussions.
“Please keep an eye out for your ballot invite, which will be sent to personal emails.”
