‘FACTS – Coronavirus Has Not Gone Away’

Health & Safety

Wednesday 31st March 2021

“Let’s stay careful and vigilant,” is the message from CWU health, safety & environment officer Dave Joyce as the Government continues its phased relaxation of Covid restrictions.

Children returned to school earlier this month and the start of this week saw several other gradual steps away from lockdown, including the return of some outdoor sports – and next week people will finally be allowed to get haircuts again!

But amid the good news, it remains of vital important that safety measures are adhered to, Dave reminds us, saying: “To keep ourselves and others safe, we must carry on with ‘hands, face, space’ plus cleanliness and good hygiene, avoiding crowded places, ventilation and fresh air and compliance with the ‘Covid-Secure’ measures in the workplace that remain in place.”

Advice and information has been sent out to CWU branches, along with posters for workplaces – all of which feature the important ‘FACTS’ acronym – Face coverings where required, Avoid crowded places, Clean hands regularly, Two-metre distancing is still necessary, and keep watching out for Symptoms and Self-isolate in accordance with government and medical guidelines.

Dave says: “Get tested when needed and get vaccinated when offered. We all must continue to play our part.”
